Setting Name Options by Entity Type
*Only Admins have access to this feature.
Entities can be structured to have a multi-field name or a single name, which can be managed by administrators when they create an entity type.
Multi names consist of First Name, Preferred Name, Middle Name, Last Name, and Suffix. These are most effective for tracking People and other types of human entities in your data. For example: Henry “Indiana” W. Jones, Jr.
Single names consist of Fullname and Preferred Name. These can be useful for entities like Organizations, Religious Congregations, Schools, Worksites, or other types of non-human entities that may have a name and acronym or other abbreviation. For example, The Ohio State University “OSU” or Fulfillment Center 12345 “Front St Warehouse.”
Adding and Editing Entity Names
*Admins, Leads, Organizers, and Activists have access to this feature.
To edit an individual entity’s name, click the pencil icon labeled Edit in the heading of the Name box.
In the pop-up window, you’ll find First Name, Last Name, Pronouns, or any other name fields that have existing data. To add values for new fields, click the bolded names fields below the boxes. For example, clicking +Suffix will make a box visible so you can add a suffix like Jr or III to a person’s name without storing it in the Last Name field. Click the Save button to save the updated name and Pronouns.
