Creating and managing turfs in Action Builder is a key component of organizing efforts. Action Builder allows you to cut multiple turfs on a map simultaneously, making it easier to segment your target areas efficiently. This feature can be particularly useful when planning large-scale canvassing or outreach efforts.
Note: You can only cut multiple turfs if no turfs currently exist in the task. If there are existing turfs, delete them before starting.
Steps to Cut Multiple Turfs on a Map
Access the Map Tool:
Start Drawing:
Click the "Start Drawing" button, which is indicated by a green pencil icon. This button activates the drawing mode.
Draw the First Turf:
Using your mouse, click on the map to begin placing points around the addresses you want to include in your turf.
Continue clicking to draw a polygon around the desired area. Each click will create a new coordinate point.
Tip: If you make a mistake while drawing, you can press the "Escape" key to clear the drawing and start over.
Complete the Shape:
Once you’ve outlined the area, double-click to connect the last point with the first one, completing the polygon. This will finalize the shape of your first turf.
Cut Additional Turfs:
Repeat the drawing process to outline additional turfs, ensuring you click "Start Drawing" for each new turf.
You can draw as many turfs as needed within the task, provided no existing turfs are present.
Stop Drawing:
Once you’ve created all the turfs, click the "Stop Drawing" button, indicated by a red pencil icon, to exit drawing mode.
Review and Adjust:
The created turfs will now be highlighted on the map. You can review their shapes and make any manual adjustments as necessary.
Note: The drawn polygons are not saved. Once you cut the turfs, the targets will be split into them. If you need to make significant changes, you will have to delete the turfs and start over.
Make Sure to Save Turfs
Once you are done drawing, click on save turfs to create your turfs.
Tips for Using the Multiple Turf Cutting Feature
- Double-Check Your Drawings: Since the drawn polygons are not saved, it’s important to verify your shapes before finalizing the turfs.
- Adjusting Turfs: Once created, you can still adjust individual turf boundaries manually to better fit your needs.
- Re-drawing Turfs: If you’re not satisfied with the turfs, you’ll need to delete them and repeat the process. Keep this in mind when drawing complex shapes.
